Functions of the Unit

• To disseminate information on the activities taking place in the hospital.
• To inform the general public about the services rendered in the hospital and how to obtain those services.
• To ensure sound public relations between the hospital and the community.
• To assist in organizing hospital events and making contact with the media for coverage.
• To supervise all communication equipments and submit reports to the management.
• Supervision of telephone room, radio room, and information centre among others.
Activities
Internal Publicity
In line with the functions of public relations, the unit informs members of staff through circulars on notice boards and photographic display of major activities that take place in the hospital in a show glass located at the administrative block. Also through the in house bulletin AKTH News flash, members of the hospital community are informed about notable activities that take place in the hospital.
External Publicity
The health enlightenment program – AIKIN LIKITA on Freedom radio has continued to raise the level of health awareness of the people. This has also led to an increase in patronage of hospital services.
