SAVE FOR RETIREMENT

The Deputy Director Cooperatives, Ministry of Commerce, Kano State Alhaji Haruna Bala has called on Members of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Multipurpose Cooperative Society to always save for retirement and not for the benefit of securing loans.

The Deputy Director, made the call while exchanging views with some Executive Members of Staff Unions in a one day workshop organized by the Hospital’s Multipurpose Cooperative Society.

He said that the whole concept of cooperative right from its origin was to inculcate the spirit of saving among the working class population in order to reduce indebtedness which was deeply rooted into the minds of workers.

The Deputy Director drew the attention of Civil Servants on the plight of their former colleagues who were reported dead in the cause of struggle for their pension and gratuity.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Multipurpose Cooperative Society Malam Ado Jibrin urged the participants to impart what was learnt at the workshop to the members of their respective unions in a form of training the trainer to curtail excess spending by the society.

He cautioned members to desist from non challant attitude in the activities of the society.
