CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY

The Department of chemical pathology and Immunology offers comprehensive biochemical analytical services to Aminu kano teaching hospital, other general hospitals within Kano State, private hospitals, clinics, Health centre in addition to specialised services to the wider north-western region of Nigeria.

As part of efforts to provide optimal patient care and basics for further training and research, the metabolic unit/clinic of the department offers a range of services for the diagnosis, treatment and training of metabolic disorders, inborn errors of metabolism dynamic function testing among other specialised investigations.

The department offers therapeutic drug monitoring services.

We are also involved in the training of undergraduate medical students, Resident doctors and provision of practical experience to inter medical laboratory Scientists.

Other functions of the department includes:

• Conducting fundamental and/or applied research
  
• Provision of consultancy services clinicians in the management of patient
  
• Developing new diagnostic method
  
• Provision of training of to student on industrial attachment from various higher institutions of learning throughout the country.
  
• Revenue generation through the laboratory/Drug Revolving fund Scheme.
  

STAFF DISPOSTION

The staff profile of the department include: Medical and non �Medical consultants Resident Doctors, Biochemists, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Technicians, Assistant, Messengers and supportive Administrative staff.

The Laboratory is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily during which period, full services are provided. Outside these ours, the following services are provided on emergency basis.
